Griffen's T-ball ritual

Forgot to add this with the previous post, but I just had to include Griffen's "pounding of the plate" routine that he started doing before each at-bat in T-ball this year. He is a regular Nomar Garciaparra.

AZ in November

This wasn't techinally November, but thought there should be a couple of pics of the boys in their Halloween costumes. Here is Griffen showing his "friend" how to play a game on his Dad's Ipod.

The boys still love their little sister

Griffen had his last T-ball game on Saturday, along with the team ice cream party and trophy presentation afterwards. The Redbirds didn't lose a single game all season, but the boys don't know that nobody was keeping score. Griffen had a good time, and wants to play again in the spring. He loves his first trophy, and his magnet baseball card.

Max has three more T-ball games left. His team is the frogs, and they are all 3-4 year old, so it takes a lot of parent involvement. In one of his first games, Max was running home, and then decided to stop about 1 step before home plate. This picture is pretty funny because it shows a couple of the coaches trying to get Max to touch home plate. He stood there for about 45 seconds looking down at the dirt before Jon came to the resuce and "helped" him touch home plate.

Here is Max running around like all the kids do during T-ball games. Half the time he doesn't like to wear his mitt or he draws letters in the dirt, but he is having fun playing for the Frogs.

The Weekend

We had a great weekend, it started Friday night with the boys decorating a Haunted Gingerbread house. Saturday morning was T-ball pictures for Max and Griff's first coach pitch game (he hit the ball all 3 times up to bat!!). It happened to be a record-breaking day for heat and so that afternoon, to cool off, we headed to the pool. It was Meg's first time, the water was a little cold for her, so she didn't last long, but the boys loved it! The best part was Jon accidentally splashed Max, and it was a pretty good splash, so Max immediately stands up and while wiping away all the water from his face, yells "Daddy, you DUMB HEAD, don't do that again!!!" It was so funny, I got the best laugh out of it! Although it was a great weekend, we are hoping for a little cooler weather this week.

Oh yeah, and Meg likes to sit in the Bumbo chair now...and is a drooler (that dress is drenched!)

Overload

So here is an overload of pictures from our trip to Utah! We had such a great time, it is always so nice to go "home" and be with all of our family and to let the kids play with their cousins. Griffen said "I want to stay in Utah, except for winter, I don't want to wear coats!" I kind of feel the same way.

We started the trip Friday at about 11 am, after a quick drive through at McDonald's we were on the road and got into Utah around 1am. The kids all did awesome on the road!! Then Saturday morning we headed up to Park City. His parents had a week timeshare up there and so we spent the whole day up there with cousins. We went to lunch, rode the Alpine Slide, the kids swam. I shopped, the men went to conference, we ate, we caught up with everyone, and just had a great time.

These three kids were all born with in 6 weeks of each other, Meg being the oldest. It was so cute to see them all together and to see how different each of them look.

From Sunday on, it was free for all with all the families, we played a lot with cousins

Last of the trip, an overnight stay in Vegas with my sister Erin and her family.

Wooden...Ditka...Lasorda...and Hammond?

Griffen had his first T-ball game today (T-ball this late in the year...only in the desert). His team is the Redbirds, but they wear purple, and they are coached by Jon and two other dads. Every kids loves their post-game treats, including Griffen. The loyal fans cheering on the Redbirds to victory (They don't keep score at this age, but the kids always want to know if they won the game).

Griffen actually touching home plate, which was no small achievement considering the time before he rounded third and went straight into the dugout because he was thirsty instead of touching homeplate first.

This ball actually landed about five feet in front of home plate, but this picture makes it look like he really got a hold of it. It was only about 100 degrees at game time, so hopefully the games in the coming weeks will be a little cooler.
